Matter is anything that has mass and volume so basicly everything in the universe. As you can imagine a category as vast as this one would need divisions to keep it orderly, the amazing thing about matter is that there are only two main categories of classifying matter Pure Substances, and mixtures. But the classification of matter doesn't stop there, there are different classifications of pure substances and mixtures.
